Visual semantics deals with the use and manipulation of words (letters) to illustrate an idea, an action, or evoke some particular pictorial image. Another way of describing this project would be “Type as a signifier”. This project involved the treatment and arrangement of letters in such a way as to make a word visually self- explanatory. My project challenged me to enforce my knowledge of design principles / variables to fully understand how words in print signify meaning. I selected 4 terms from the design principles/variables and came up with my own 4 words that reflected the principle.
