I am interested in the self and the surrounding environment. I focus on the physicality of the environment, as well as the mental and emotional maps within the self. Repetition, continuous line, and pops of bold color are the techniques in which I chose to explore these notions.
I made these works inside a tent in the woods, on a cross country bike tour. All along America's forgotten roads I am seeing first hand various structures in different states of rot. Each one has a story that can only be imagined by passerbys. I found this public school in the middle of indiana. It has been unused since the 70's and nature has taken its course on the building. Focusing on the romanticized notion of decay, I wanted to show the strength of the earth and evoke moments of both imagined futures and lost pasts.
Does something become more beautiful after it has been forgotten?
