The poster utilizes silhouettes of Man Ray’s Chess sculpture in a manner that references his “Rayograph” photography. By doing this the design evokes both his 2D and 3D work. The poster itself is for an imaginary lecture.
Images of Man Ray’s Chess were taken with a high resolution camera. These images wee then used to create vector drawn silhouettes of each piece. These forms were then used to create a composition for a imaginary lecture. The poster design was based on Man Ray’s infamous “Rayographs” (a type of experimental photography)
