i wanted to try to simulate walking in a snowstorm, in a very basic manner. Using the 3D geometric primitives of spheres and cubes, i gave them a video texture of a simple animation -- snow crystals forming. These i have falling from a radius around the first person character controller, so that in running through the shapes one can never quite get beyond them.
i had wanted to see them gather in drifts and collect in piles, but already i put too many in the scene, so it runs a bit slowly. and its nowehere near the quantity i would need for a large pile. i have them being destroyed after a few seconds so that more can fall without the scene being overloaded. i can solve this further by limiting their number, but this was a good working test for this kind of behaviour and video texture.
