This body of work is a collection of hand painted and heat transferred textile sample designs. With only a limited lifespan, I heat-pressed my designs onto various fabrics including suede, leather, chiffon and polyester blends. After taking a course over the Maya and Navajo Creation stories at The School of the Art Institute of Chicago, I reflected on the different cultures and teaching mechanisms of the Ancient people of North and South America. Interested in their visual language, I incorporated specific symbols that were once used for communicating among tribes. With this collection I aim to apply my knowledge of symbolz with the fabric we use in everyday life for future collaborative endeavors.
