    About Project

Done in collaboration with the designer Cecilia Gomez, this glass tree is an interpretation of her thesis project done at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. "The Mexican Tree of Life is one of the most central Mexican folk symbols. It signifies the fusion of ‘original’ customs and foreign elements that have shaped and continue to influence Mexican cultural identity. In a simple, graphic way, it embodies the power of life, origins and roots on the psyche." Cecilia Gomez Lauria (2011). The Tree of Culture is an interpretation of the constant introspection to define the individual as one entity; a single culture, profession, tradition, belief, etc. Individual colors merge representing different aspects of our lives, creating a more complex undefined individual, yet enriched by all multiple experiences, behaviors, attitudes, values and emotions.
