The Chronicles of Professor Fliggins was a year long project at Shawnimals to engage fans by exploring the entire world of Shawnimals (which has 22 different lands with over 400 characters) through one elaborate adventure.
Working with the writer Robbie Q. Telfer, the Shawnimals team devised a story where the bumbling Professor Fliggins, an adventurer and supposed anthropologist, is lost in Shawnimaland and discovers a new character each month. For each discovery, we released a new plush toy. The story was told through an online blog filled with images and scientific diagrams.
The visual branding for Fliggins, was a mixture of scientific illustrations, nerdy plaids, hairbrained steampunk inventions, and references of academia. Each plush toy was packaged with a detailed specimen tag and character buttons in a larger box filled with paper shreddings resembling something that would be stored for documentation at the Chicago Field Museum.
For the website, I designed humorous scientific diagrams of characters, inventions, and discoveries. For blog posts, I illustrated scenes displayed as polaroid photos and managed promotional graphics for product release.
