Luminary Brewing is my brother's "brewery to be." Landon is currently experimenting and developing recipes with his home brew operation in Atlanta, GA. After sharing his beer with friends and receiving good feedback, he decided to submit the beer to competitions. The branding of his product will hopefully eventually help advance his dream into a reality.
The name came about for a couple of reasons; "The Luminary" was the first newspaper published in Atlanta and Landon is a lighting engineer. As a result, he decided a 19th century street lamp would be the identifying icon. Visual cues from newspapers of the time influenced the identity. The challenge was referencing the 1800's time period while maintaining a modern edge.
Below is the first logo iteration for the bottle cap. Next, the labeling for the first staple brew, Forty Weight.
