I’m Forgetting. 2013. Silver gelatin prints, electric tape, foamcore.
Whether platonic or romantic, I have always been fascinated by interpersonal relationships. Through my own experience, relationships between people are extremely hard to understand – how they begin, how they are maintained, and how they can be broken or strengthened. I’m Forgetting is an exploration of different kinds of relationships through varying levels of physical contact.
The two components of the piece are also a way of comparing these numerous situations. The photographs offer individual vignettes, while my sculpture combines them to create a sense of interconnection, as well as a means of contrasting the photographs. I was inspired to create a piece that would communicate something about how individuals come together, or how they drift apart.
